CDI College

CDI College, owned and operated by Eminata Group in Vancouver, British Columbia, has thirteen campuses in four Canadian Provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec. CDI College focuses on career training in business, technology, and health care. Dr. Peter Chung founded CDI College in Vancouver over 30 years ago.

Private educational institutions are accredited in each province according to that regulatory body. British Columbia campuses are accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions of BC, Alberta campuses by the Alberta Advanced Education, the Manitoba campus by the National Association of Career Colleges, Manitoba Branch, and, in Quebec, by the Quebec Ministry of Education, Leisure and Sport.

CDI offers two Early Childhood Education programs: Basic Level and Advanced. The Basic curriculum involves study of child development, behavior, anatomy, and health. Students are taught lesson strategies for learning through instruction, play, music, art, and storytelling. A practicum is required to obtain certification. Graduation from this program qualifies students for employment at day cares, nurseries, and preschools.

Students with an Early Childhood Level II Certificate may continue their education in the Advanced Early Childhood Education Program. This program entails approximately 770 hours of instruction, lectures, presentations, and guest speakers on a full-time basis. Prerequisites also include Grade 12, or equivalency, and a pre-admission interview. Most students in this program work in day cares and desire to advance their education. Practicums are carried out at the student's workplace. Successful completion of the advanced program enables students to work as day care directors.

Classroom sizes at CDI College are small and students receive individual attention from instructors, who have professional experience in their field. CDI College programs typically are shorter than programs offered at other institutions. CDI College's philosophy is a fast-paced deadline curriculum places students in a position to obtain employment as soon as possible.
