Central Michigan University offers many off-campus and online options for students are wishing to complete their degrees. CMU online allow students to complete courses at their own pace, and is an excellent choice for student with busy schedules.

Undergraduate and graduate programs can be complete online, using a 24/7 online delivery system called Blackboard. Students can use the system to order books, view lectures, send in assignments and complete quizzes, as well as communicate with teachers and students. While studies are available online, most exams have to be taken in a supervised setting.

Central Michigan University also offers prior learning credit to adult students – in order to award them for educational and life experiences, as well as other training or skills they may have acquired. Prior learning credit can significantly reduce the amount of credits needed to achieve a diploma or degree. Academic advisors at the university can help students decide whether they should apply for a prior learning credit assessment, and help them with the application process.

The university is dedicated to assisting students who require financial aid or alternative sources of funding. In school loan deferments, financial assistance, scholarships, and access to non-federal funding sources are readily available. Central Michigan University offers an online financial aid program where students can apply for and check the status of their application.

Students who have graduated or left school for another reason can request a one-time deferment of six months in order to allow them time to find employment.
