Early Childhood Education in British Columbia
Early childhood schools in British Columbia offer students certificates and two -year associate’s degree programs to prepare them for a career teaching preschool children. Early childhood educators are an important player in the child’s preparation to enter the school system. Children who attend preschool are often more prepared academically and socially compared to their non-preschool counterparts. Besides classroom instruction, students receive several opportunities to spend time in the field at an approved early childhood education facility such as a daycare or learning center. The job market has suffered recently but is expected to improve, as more unemployed parents go back to work and need to enroll their children in preschool.
