Early Childhood Education in Connecticut
Early childhood education programs provide coursework to prepare students for a career as a preschool teacher, administrator or daycare owner. The majority of programs are offered at community colleges that award two year associate’s degrees. Students enrolled in early childhood courses learn about childhood development, motor skills, discipline and communication, social skills, as well as preschool subject matter such as art, music, language arts and mathematics. Students typically spend several hours at a daycare or learning center practicing the skills they learn in the class. Typical jobs include preschool teacher, daycare owner, learning center coordinator, and daycare teacher.
