Early Childhood Education in Maine
Early childhood education schools in Maine prepare students for a career as a preschool teacher, aid, daycare owner, preschool/daycare administrator or after-school program coordinator. A typical curriculum includes psychosocial development in children, human development, children’s literature, music and motor development, math and science, social skills, discipline and communication, first aid, safety and nutrition. Students also spend several hours in the classroom teaching preschoolers. Programs are usually two years in length and culminate in the student receiving an associate’s degree. The occupation is expected to grow at an average pace during the next 10 years.
