Educational Technology in Virginia
Educational technology is becoming a popular major with students as it combines the majors of computer science and education. The foundational goal of the major is to facilitate learning and assessment using technology in the classroom. Educational technology teaches students and teachers how to best use computers for education. Classes usually cover assessment, curriculum development technology tools, distance education, multimedia learning applications, teaching and learning theory, and an overview of the education system. Most programs take four-years to complete and award bachelor’s degrees. Some educational technology schools in Virginia have a student teaching component where students spend a semester teaching in a classroom.
