Elementary Education in Hawaii

Elementary education schools offer several degree options for students who desire a career as an elementary school teacher. Four-year bachelor’s degrees, six-year master’s and doctoral degrees are all available. Students who complete the studies required and obtain a bachelor’s degree are eligible to become certified as an elementary education teacher. Students must receive a certification from their state that entitles them to teach at the Kindergarten through 8^thgrade or Kindergarten through 6^thgrade level. During the third and fourth year of the bachelor’s degree program, students are required to spend a number of hours teaching and learning hands-on in a school classroom.
