Elementary Education in Utah
Thousands of elementary education teachers are set to retire over the next 10 years, which is expected to make elementary teaching one of the most in demand professions in the country. Students interested in teaching at public elementary schools are required to have both a bachelor’s degree in education and a valid teaching certificate. Elementary education curriculum for bachelor’s degrees includes general education courses and major courses that focus on subjects such as teaching methods, class management, educational technology, assessment, public education policy, and human development. Students can also choose to focus on specialized areas, such as reading or teaching for either disabled or gifted students.
