ESL

As an ESL teacher, not only will you be helping people communicate, but you will be keeping the language alive for generations to come. English is not the language everyone learns at home, so its important to specialize in the practice of teaching language effectively. English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers instruct students for whom English is not their first language in the fundamentals and intricacies of the English language so that they may learn to use the English as well as their native-speaking classmates.

Outside the United States, English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers tutor students in the English language. In some cases, this time may very well be the only contact these students have with English, making EFL teaching a distinct yet parallel challenge from ESL teaching.
