ESL in Texas
ESL schools are geared toward non-native English speakers who desire to learn English. ESL courses are non-degree programs focused on English proficiency, and classes are typically offered year round. ESL classes are generally broken up into levels according to proficiency. Students engage in rote memorization, as well as conceptual language learning. Students learn through lecture, visual and audio recordings and field trips. Most ESL schools are offered through accredited community colleges and community learning centers and organizations. Most classes are very inexpensive. Once students reach a specific level of proficiency, they can enroll in college classes, or courses to obtain a GED.
