Hesser College

Hesser College was founded in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1900 by Joel H. Hesser. Four additional campuses have been established in New Hampshire since the turn of the century. Hesser College is operated under the auspices of Kaplan Higher Education Corporation.

Hesser College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and authorized by the New Hampshire State Legislature to confer Associate's degrees in Early Childhood Education.

The Manchester campus of Hesser College offers an Early Childhood Education program, with graduates receiving an associate's degree. The program is a mixture of academic and hands-on experience learning. Students are trained in thinking, learning, and playing strategies for children, teaching approaches for basic reading, writing, and mathematics and assessing and reporting a child's progress.

The Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education program at Hesser College includes placement in training facilities, directly working with children, aged birth through eight years, and parents and mentoring with a full-time director.

Admission requirements are a certificate of physical examination and transportation to and from training facilities.

Successful completion of this program prepares students for entry-level positions as a teacher, site director, director, and owner of child care facilities.

Hesser College also has a Certificate program, which enables students to apply for positions as entry-level day care teachers and lead teachers. The curriculum for the certificate program is based on in-class learning and training facility situations.

The Career Services Department provides students with extensive support in their quest for commencement and continuation of their chosen careers. The Department assists with job-search strategies, employment application cover letters, resumes, interview techniques, and professional development training.

Hesser College holds job fairs each March and September at the Manchester campus to assist students in finding part-time employment to offset tuition fees during their studies. The Financial Aid Department advisors counsel students on possible sources of financial aid.
