McCann School of Business & Technology

Louis C. McCann founded the McCann School of Business and Technology in 1897. The first campus was located in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania. His sons became involved in the Institution and played a major role in establishment of further campuses. The original campus offered accountancy and secretarial programs. After a series of purchases over the decades, McCann School is currently owned by Delta Educational Systems, Inc.

McCann School received accreditation in 1970 from the Accrediting Council for Independent College and Schools of Washington, DC. The school is permitted to confer an Associate's degree in Specialized Business for approved two-year programs. It is also licensed by the State Board of Private Licensed Schools, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and approved for veterans training by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and rehabilitation students by the Bureau of Vocation Rehabilitation.

An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education program is available at McCann School's Dickson City, Pottsville, Sunbury, and Hazleton campuses. The program curriculum includes teaching techniques, early childhood development (emotionally, socially, intellectually and physically), parent interaction, lesson planning, classroom strategies, creation of a healthy learning environment, and special needs children.

The associate's degree qualifies students for employment as entry-level teaching assistants and childcare providers in private and public schools, daycare centers, and Head Start programs.

Applications to McCann School are accepted year-round. Prospective students must have graduated from Grade 12 at an accredited school (or have earned an equivalency), participate in an interview with an admissions representative from McCann School, and complete an entrance evaluation. Admissions staff is available during days and evenings.

McCann School students are eligible for federal financial aid and Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency grants and loans. Financial aid staff assists students with determining qualification status and application forms. Students are eligible for a maximum of two years of financial aid.
