Secondary education schools are typically housed within a university or college department of education. Students can achieve a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Secondary Education. Secondary education involves obtaining a degree as well as teacher certification and mastery of a specific subject. For example, secondary education students train in teaching methodologies while learning about the specific subject they’re going to teach, which  may be history, English, mathematics, foreign language or any other subject taught at the middle school and high school levels. Secondary education degrees also include a student teaching experience that lasts one semester, where the student teaches in a classroom under the observation of a mentor.
