Secondary Education in Hawaii
Secondary education schools prepare students for a career as a high school teacher. High school education majors must be knowledgeable in the subject they plan on teaching as well as teaching and learning theory. For example, students who plan on teaching math will major in mathematics but also be required to take education classes in order to acquire a secondary teaching certificate. Secondary teaching is a popular major with males and females unlike elementary education which is predominantly female. Students can expect promising job prospects upon graduation as public sector teachers are retiring after years of service.
