Degrees are at the four-year bachelor’s level and above and are offered through four-year colleges and universities. Students must successfully pass classes and their student teaching experience in order to graduate and be eligible for a teaching certification. Most students who plan on teaching at the high school level major in the specific subject they will be teaching. Subjects include history, math, English, science, music or physical education. Job growth is expected to be strong but may be tempered by budget cutbacks at the state level.
