To teach special education in a public school, it’s required to have a valid teaching license with a specialization in special education. Programs are offered at community colleges and four-year institution. The majority of students graduate with a bachelor’s degree in education with a concentration in special education. The job market for special education teachers is expected to be favorable for the next 10-15 years as baby boomers retire, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
