Special Education in Colorado
Special education schools help students obtain positions as special education educators within the public and private sectors. Special education programs are typically part of a four-year college’s college of education that award four-year bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. The vast majority of special education teachers work in public education working with students with special needs. Courses include assessment, behavior management, curriculum and instruction, special education laws, and human development. Degrees also include general education courses required by all four-year colleges and universities. Programs also include a student teaching experience that lasts one semester and takes place at an approved school.
