Special Education in Hawaii
Special education schools prepare students to teach students with a variety of physical and mental disabilities. Special education teaching programs award both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Students interested in this major should be prepared to spend at least four-years in school to complete their bachelor’s degree. A four-year special education degree is comprised of general education and core education courses, including assessment, behavior management, special education instruction, human development, and psychology. Students also spend a term in a special education resource room or classroom putting to practice those skills they learned while taking courses.
