Specialized Teaching in West Virginia
Specialized teaching schools in West Virginia prepare students for careers as special education instructors. Special education instructors work in public education classrooms in both elementary and secondary schools. Students enrolled in a specialized teaching program learn how to systematically and effectively work with children with a wide range of physical and learning disabilities. Four-year bachelor’s degrees and six-year master’s degrees are offered at the university level. General coursework is taken prior to applying for acceptance to a specialized teaching program. In some cases, students obtain a two-year associate’s degree before transferring to a four-year college or accredited university to study specialized teaching.
