Sullivan University

Sullivan University was founded in 1962 by father and son, A.O. Sullivan and A.R. Sullivan, in Louisville, Kentucky, under the name Sullivan Business College. In the years since, Sullivan University has expanded with campuses in Fort Knox and Lexington and an online learning program. Sullivan University received its university designation in 2000.

The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited Sullivan University to confer associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education has also authorized the University to award degrees. Sullivan University is approved by the Ohio State Board of Proprietary School Registration, regulated by the Indiana Commission on Proprietary Education and authorized by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.

The Associate of Science degree in Early Childhood Education is offered onsite at the Louisville and Lexington campuses and online. Courses concentrate on infant and childcare, safety and nutrition, child development, family systems, and special needs. Students participate in five externships throughout the program. The business aspect of the curriculum focuses on administration, organization, management, supervision, and principles of accounting. General education coursework is composition, literacy, geography, keyboarding, and mathematics. Students must also take two additional courses: psychology and a humanities-based selection. The degree program is 18 months in length.

Faculty members have both educational and real-world experience in their fields and implement a number of teaching strategies to greater enable student learning.

Sullivan employs a foundation-building concept in its curriculum. For instance, the Professional Nanny Career Diploma contains the foundation courses for the Early Childhood Education degree.

Sullivan University has an extensive library and up-to-date equipment in classrooms.

Graduates have the opportunity to retake, review, and audit previously taken courses free of tuition costs for their lifetime.

Sullivan University Graduate Services staff offers students job-search assistance, resumes, cover letters, and mock interviews after graduation. The job-search assistance is available until retirement.
