I think it can be agreed that Archimedes is considered the father of mathematics. He is generally considered to be the greatest mathematician of all time. A Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, inventor and astronomer, Archimedes is credited with numerous mathematical writings. It is said that he spent a great deal of time contemplating new mathematical problems to solve which resulted in new, bold discoveries that were way beyond his time.
Much later, in the twentieth century, another important mathematician was Paul Erdös. A Hungarian and famously eccentric mathematician, Erdös published more mathematical papers than anyone is history (at least 1400).
