University of Phoenix

The University of Phoenix was founded in 1976 with the express intent of giving working students an opportunity to attend post-secondary education programs. The University accomplishes this goal with online courses and library, flexible campus schedules, and continuous enrollment. University of Phoenix has campuses in 39 states, the Canadian Provinces of British Columbia and Alberta, and in Puerto Rico. In all, the University has almost 200 locations and global online program capability. It is the largest private university in North America.



The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association, and pre-accredited by The Teacher Education Accreditation Council until 2012.

There are three options for credit transfers to the University of Phoenix: from previous college education, through national testing program examinations, and military training and experience.

The University of Phoenix offers an extensive selection of associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral education degrees. Education degree programs are available online.

In addition to an Associate of Arts degree program, the University has Associate's degree programs in Elementary and Paraprofessional Education.

A Bachelor of Science in Education/Elementary Teacher Education is available.

Master of Arts in Education programs may have the following specializations: Teacher Education Middle Level Generalist; Teacher Education Middle Level Mathematics; Teacher Education Secondary Mathematics; Teacher Education Secondary Science; Administration and Supervision; Adult Education and Training; Curriculum and Instruction (plus Curriculum and Instruction for Computer Education, English and Language Arts Education, English as a Second Language and Mathematics Education focuses); Early Childhood Education; Elementary; Secondary; Secondary Middle Level; Special Education; and Teacher Leadership.

Doctor of Education programs may include: Education Leadership (plus Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Technology specialties), Higher Education Administration, and Educational Specialist.

Faculty members hold advanced degrees and real-world experience in their fields of expertise.
