Since 1970, Walden University has been providing students with access to quality degrees through distance education. As part of the Laureate International Universities Network, Walden University provides access for students to over 35 universities worldwide.

Students can choose to take general courses in order to build a foundation for their undergraduate degree bachelor degree, or they can choose from a wide variety of specializations. Walden University's Education and Leadership program is focused on helping current educators enhance their leadership skills. Students can choose from degrees in education, bachelor's degrees in child development, as well as graduate programs for teachers.

All courses at Walden University are offered entirely over the Internet. Students enrolled in programs requiring residencies have various options for scheduling attendance at many locations throughout the United States. Online classes are scheduled asynchronously so students can attend at their convenience. Students will need approximately 15 to 20 hours per week to study each course.

The university gives students online courses with flexible schedules – so students can study and interact online when they can. As long as the student has access to a computer they can complete their chosen program, and faculty is readily available by email to answer any questions.

Walden offers year round enrollment, and courses are scheduled into 16 week or 12 week blocks, with each course inside the block taking either eight weeks or six weeks to complete. Students are assigned one week off between semesters.

Through the university website students can access a variety of financial assistance programs, including federal financial aid, scholarships, fellowships and other funding options. Walden University staff are available to help students through the financial aid process, and can help students find the funding they need to ensure they can complete their chose program of study.
